This is one of the most common positive displacement flow meters, which measures the flow rate by rotating two intermeshing oval gears under the push of the fluid. It is suitable for the measurement of high viscosity fluids and clean liquids.
 
Waist wheel flow meter (Roots flow meter):
Similar to the oval gear flow meter, but uses a waist wheel (Roots rotor) as the measuring element. There is no direct meshing between the waist wheels, but they are kept in synchronous rotation through an external transmission mechanism. This flow meter is suitable for the measurement of a variety of fluids, including gas and liquid.
Scraper flow meter:
Also known as a form of rotary piston flow meter, it uses a scraper (or rotor) to rotate in the shell and extend and retract along a specific trajectory to form a metering chamber. Reciprocating piston flow meter:

Diaphragm gas meter:

Liquid-sealed drum flowmeter (wet gas meter):
